JOYCE STANLEY LIGHTER<br>Joyce Stanley Lightner passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Saturday<br>morning, September 2, 2006 while under the loving care of her family with the help of Hospice Savannah. Joyce was born in Miami, Florida on August 21, 1926 but had lived in Savannah for most of her life. She was the daughter of Lillian and Oliver Flynn and Curtis Stanley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Stanley, and her sisters Vera Barnett and Darfie Baldwin. She worked as a bookkeeper for several local businesses including the Savannah Electric and Power Co., Goethe Distributors and Neal Blun. She retired in January, 1990 from the Delinquent Tax Division of the Chatham County Tax Commissioner’s Office. After her retirement, she transported rental cars for Hertz. Joyce was an avid bowler for many years and served on the Savannah Women’s Bowling Association Board of Directors. She was an enthusiastic fan of the Georgia Southern University football team and rode her “Eagle” blue scooter to her seat in section K for almost every home game since 1985. Joyce is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Larry Bargeron, of Savannah, her son and daughter-in-law, Lewis and Jill Lightner, her granddaughters, Ashley and Mandy Lightner all of Fletcher, North Carolina, several nieces and nephews and her beloved parrot, Amos. The family will receive friends at Fox & Weeks Funeral Home, Hodgson Chapel, on Tuesday, September 5th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Her memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Savannah on Troup Square at the corner of Harris and Habersham Streets. The Reverend Joan Kahn-Schneider will conduct the service. Her ashes will be interred at Bonaventure Cemetery at a later time. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, remembrances be sent to Hospice Savannah, P. O.
